Tristan Gooley in Connecting to Nature introduced me to the idea of topic walks. The idea is that even the familiar can become interesting if you look at it in a different way on occasions. He suggests doing a familiar walk concentrating on a particular theme eg birds, sounds, geology or architecture. You bring a book with you to help you identify what you are seeing.
Since I am walking to my daughter's place on a regular basis I decided to try it and document what I see/hear/smell. The walk is five blocks through Australian suburbia. It is on first glance a very boring route and I normally spend it playing PokemonGO. I am going to write down my ideas for Topic Walks and link my post about them as I do it , so this post is a walk in progress. Obviously some are going to be harder than others to document but I hope to convince myself and you that any area can be interesting. You could do this around your house, workplace or school. Do it and see what a fascinating , interesting world it is.

Another book that encouraged me to look at the world in different ways is How to Be Explorer of the World by Keri Smith which I found at the Green Shed. I have got some ideas from it.
This may take some time.................
