Water Bill
Look at a water bill. Look at Water used=Current reading -Previous reading, kl, graph, cost per kl, total cost, billing period. Compare the price of bottled water (Natural Spring Water from Coles) for $0.47 per litre , would be $470 per kl versus tap water at $3.72 per kilolitre.

Collecting Rainwater
Look at rainfall over weekend in Canberra. If this had been collected from teacher’s roof area of 192m2 how much water would have been collected? Measure the roof area of your house/school. What volume of water could have been collected from your roof area? Change this from cubic millimetres to litres.

How much water do you use a day?
The students used Cool Australia's "How Much Water do you use in a Day" form to estimate their daily usage. They then multiplied by 365 to work out a yearly usage. We then compared this with Australian average of 80kL, world average consumption and minimum requirements of 20L.

Every last drop
I did Cool Australia's Every Last Drop activity as a demonstration. Starting with a litre of water to represent the Earth's total water I removed all the water that was unavailable or unusable until only 1 drop is left.
